Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how QuickCalc ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use quickcalc.co.za and its subdomains (the "Site"). We are committed to complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") and to keeping the personal information we handle to the absolute minimum needed to operate the Site.

1. Information we collect

Calculator inputs. Every calculation on QuickCalc runs entirely in your browser. The figures you type into a calculator (property prices, salaries, interest rates and so on) are never transmitted to our servers and are not stored by us in any form.

Suggestions and email. If you use the Suggest a calculator form or email us, we collect the information you voluntarily provide (your name, email address and message). We use it only to reply to you and to decide which calculators to build next. We do not sell or share it.

Preferences. Display preferences (such as currency style, time and energy units) are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. They never leave your browser.

Automatically collected data. Like most websites, our servers and third-party analytics/ad providers automatically log technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL and pages visited. This information is used in aggregate to understand how the Site is used and to prevent abuse.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a limited set of cookies and similar technologies to run the Site, to measure usage and to serve advertising. See our Cookie Policy for the full list, including how to opt out.

3. Analytics and advertising

We use Google Tag Manager to load anonymous analytics, and Google AdSense to serve advertising on some pages. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can manage your ad personalisation settings at adssettings.google.com and opt out of many third-party ad networks at aboutads.info/choices.

4. Legal basis for processing

Under POPIA we process personal information on the basis of legitimate interest (to operate and improve the Site), on the basis of your consent (where you voluntarily submit a suggestion or contact us), and to comply with legal obligations.

5. How long we keep information

Suggestions and correspondence are retained for up to 24 months, after which they are deleted or de-identified. Analytics logs are retained in accordance with the third-party provider's policy (typically 14 to 26 months).

6. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to object to its processing and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@quickcalc.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time and in any event within the statutory period.

7. Children

QuickCalc is not directed at children under the age of 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, technology or the law. Material changes will be flagged on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
